2026 Prayer Over the City Marks Two Decades with Prayer and Music.

A Great Way to Begin Our America 250 Celebration!

Please join the St. George Interfaith Council, the St. George Interfaith Choir, religious leaders of our community, and community leaders as we begin 2026 at Prayer Over the City Wednesday, January 1, at noon in the Historic St. George Tabernacle. You will be blessed with an inspirational feeling of togetherness as you share in special thoughts and prayers from our faith community.

For two decades, the St. George Interfaith Council has held a “Prayer Over the City” program on New Year’s Day. 2026 marks the 20th one-hour program where religious leaders in St. George offer prayers focused on specific topics such as families, peace, growth, first responders and our military. Prayers are offered by faith leaders from 16 local churches, including Catholic, Presbyterian, US Army Reserve, Jewish, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Baha’i, Methodist, Islam, Episcopal, Unitarian, Pentecostal, Salvation Army, Center For Spiritual Living and others.

This marvelous welcome to the new year begins with music by the Interfaith Choir and a welcome by our host, Reverend Jimi Kestin of Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Fellowship. During the service, Mayor Michelle Randall will be honored for her years of service and will pass the mayoral baton to incoming Mayor-elect Jimmie Hughes. Following the flag ceremony and Pledge of Allegiance, the St. George Interfaith Choir will add to the spirit followed by the “short” prayers by many faith leaders.

Everyone is invited and welcome to attend this wonderful Interfaith community event and start 2026 off with an uplifting experience.
