Campaign calls on Utah men to step up for boys waiting for a mentor across the state
ST. GEORGE, Utah — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah (BBBSU) is launching its annual Men
to Mentor campaign this summer with a new Utah-inspired theme: “Lead the Adventure.”
Running from June 1 through August 31, the campaign aims to recruit 90 male mentors in
90 days to support boys currently waiting for a positive male role model.
Right now, more than 80 boys across Utah are waiting to be matched with a mentor.
The campaign encourages men to share the everyday adventures that make Utah special
— whether that means hiking local trails, fishing, attending a ballgame, grabbing burgers
after school, exploring Snow Canyon, or simply showing up consistently for a young person
who needs someone in their corner.
“Mentorship doesn’t have to be complicated,” said Dave Hawk. “Sometimes it’s as simple
as inviting a young person along for the things you already love to do. Boys are constantly
learning from the men around them — how to handle challenges, build confidence, and
navigate life. Having someone there to model consistency, encouragement, and healthy
masculinity can truly change a child’s future.”
Research continues to show the powerful impact of mentorship on young people,
including improved confidence, stronger relationships, and better long-term outcomes.
BBBSU’s mentoring relationships often last for years, creating meaningful connections
that help young people feel supported, seen, and capable of reaching their goals.
Be the mentor you needed when you were younger, or if you had the gift of a great role
model, pay it forward for a child in your community who needs a personal champion.
Community members are encouraged to apply to become a mentor or share the
opportunity with someone they believe would make a positive role model.
