Breathtaking views, mild winter temps set the table for great experiences at Virgin River Half Marathon, Jan. 18

ST. GEORGE — Amid the stunning visual splendor of St. George, the 43rd annual Virgin River Half Marathon — Southern Utah’s longest-running and most beloved half marathon — returns on January 18, beginning and ending at the Dixie Convention Center. Known for its breathtaking course along the Virgin River, this event brings together athletes, families and running enthusiasts to kick off the new year with energy and excitement.

“The Virgin River Half Marathon is more than a race — it’s a celebration of community and the great outdoors,” said Aaron Metler, Recreation Manager of Races and Special Events. “With spectacular views, a welcoming atmosphere and events for all ages, this is the perfect way to experience the magic of St. George.”

The Virgin River Half Marathon is a family-friendly event that attracts participants from across the country. This year, the race welcomes runners from more than 15 states eager to enjoy the mild winter temperatures, inspiring scenery and a course that highlights St. George’s unique natural beauty.

Whether you’re a competitive runner or just looking to join the fun, there’s a race for everyone:

●       Half Marathon: 9 a.m.

●       10k: 9:20 a.m.

●       5k: 9:15 a.m.

●       Fun Run Walk n’ Roll: 11 a.m.

Starting and finishing at the Dixie Convention Center, the Virgin River Half Marathon offers more than just running. Participants and spectators can look forward to:

●       Pre-race Virgin River Half Marathon Expo: Held on Friday, January 17, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., the expo features local vendors, health and wellness booths and last-minute registration opportunities.

●       Scenic course highlights: Wind through stunning trails along the Virgin River, take in panoramic views of the surrounding red rock cliffs and soak up the unique charm of Southern Utah.

●       Post-race celebration: Cross the finish line to cheers and celebration, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow runners.

All participants will receive a race shirt and finisher medal, while top finishers in each race and age category will earn special awards.
