ST. GEORGE — The holiday season sparkles to life as the City of St. George partners with Cat Country 107.3 94.9 FM to present the annual Kickoff to Christmas on December 2 at Historic Town Square. All are invited to this community celebration that begins at 6 p.m.
“This is something that I look forward to every year — a chance to gather with the community at Town Square and officially usher in the holiday season,” said St. George Mayor Michele Randall. “There are a couple small changes to the program, which we think will enhance the overall experience. I hope to see you all there!”
Aaronee Cottam of 94.9 Cat Country, the event’s hostess, explains the changes to the program.
“This year, we are flipping the area where the performances will happen,” Cottam said. “The show will still go on at Historic Town Square, but on the east side of the tower. We’ll also flip on the lights at the beginning of the program. I’ll start everyone singing Silent Night, and then the Mayor and St. George City Council members will lead the countdown.”
Following the lighting ceremony, the evening will feature:
● Performances by the choirs of Legacy Elementary School and Dixie Middle School.
● An ugly sweater contest, sure to spread laughter and creativity.
● A special appearance by beloved characters Elsa and Anna from Disney’s Frozen.
● A visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, ready for photos.
● Extended hours for the St. George Carousel, open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
● The St. George Children’s Museum, open until 8 p.m.
Complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, provided by Hedgehog Electric, will be available to the first 1,500 attendees. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the full slate of festivities.
