Celebrate National Bike Month in St. George with two great events: Roll with Patrol (May 5) and Bike to Work Day (May 16)

ST. GEORGE — St. George is a premier destination for biking enthusiasts thanks to its stunning natural landscapes and year-round sunny weather. With an extensive network of paved trails, mountain trails and scenic road routes, riders of all skill levels can find something to enjoy.

To further its renown as a haven for cyclists, the City of St. George is excited to celebrate National Bike Month this May with two community events aimed at promoting cycling as a fun, healthy, and sustainable way to travel. Kicking off the festivities is Roll with Patrol on May 5, followed by Bike to Work Day on May 16.

“Whether you’re riding for fun, fitness, or to work, May is the perfect time to celebrate bicycling in St. George,” said Lloyd Sutton, Active Transportation Coordinator for the City of St. George. “Grab your helmet, pump up your tires and join us for a month full of bicycling fun.”

Roll with Patrol, May 5

This family-friendly excursion gives residents a chance to ride alongside officers from the St. George Police Department on a 5.3 mile course around the “Mayor’s Loop.”  A 1-mile, out-and-back option is also available. Participants can enjoy some food, learn about bike safety during the “Bike Rodeo” cone course and enjoy a relaxed ride through the scenic Virgin River Trail network. It’s a unique way to build relationships between the community and local law enforcement while promoting safe cycling habits.

Location: Crosby Family Confluence Park, 1953. S Convention Center Drive
Time: 5:45pm (event starts); 6:30pm (ride departs)

Bike donations for a great cause

During the Roll with Patrol event, attendees and non-attendees alike are encouraged to bring bike donations to support the St. George Bicycle Collective. Donations of used bicycles in any condition will be accepted. The Bicycle Collective refurbishes bikes for community members in need, promotes bike education and helps make cycling accessible for all.

Bike to Work Day, May 16

Join fellow commuters in swapping four wheels for two! On Bike to Work Day, residents are encouraged to ride their bikes to work, school, or wherever they need to go. The City will host two designated stops where cyclists can enjoy refreshments, pick up free swag and learn more about local cycling initiatives.

Two Locations: Downtown — Zion’s Square 20 N Main Street (in front of the IRONMAN statue); Crosby Family Confluence Park – 1953. S Convention Center Drive
