On January 25, Mayor Michele Randall and the St. George City Council invite the community to join them in celebrating Heritage Day — commemorating the city’s 163rd birthday! The celebration will include free root beer floats and other treats at the Social Hall (212 N. Main Street) from noon to 2 p.m.

The celebration, however, is not limited to the Social Hall. In addition to the refreshments, several other freebies will be available throughout the day, including:

●       Free admission to the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center (1144 N. 2400 W).

●       Free admission to the St. George Recreation Center (285 S. 400 E).

●       Free admission to the St. George Art Museum (47 E. 200 N).

●       Free rides all day on SunTran buses.

●       Free rides from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Thunder Junction Train (1851 S. Dixie Drive) and St. George Carousel (100 W. Tabernacle).

“This is a day to celebrate how far our city has come while enjoying everything that makes St. George such a special place to live,” Randall said. “From our recreational centers to our great parks and outdoor spaces, there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy. I look forward to seeing the community come together to celebrate our shared heritage.”

St. George was settled in late 1861 and officially chartered as a city on January 17, 1862. Originally established as part of a plan to grow cotton and other crops, the city has since grown into a thriving community known for its stunning scenery, outdoor activities and welcoming atmosphere.
