Community invited to create ceramic bowls in preparation for 2026 Soup N’ Bowl Fundraiser

ST. GEORGE — Community members are invited to channel their inner Michelangelo at a pair of “pot throws” being held in support of the St. George Museum of Art. The first will be held at the St. George Recreation Center on December 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a second session slated at the same venue on January 2 from 3 to 6 p.m.

First-time throwers as well as pottery wheel experts are welcome to take part in the events.  During sessions to be overseen by skilled professional ceramicist Jenn Vigil, participants will create bowls that will be included in the ticket price of the Museum’s 2026 Soup N’ Bowl Fundraiser in February.

All throwing equipment and materials will be provided, and community members can stop in to make bowls at any time during the designated hours.

“This is a great opportunity to support the arts here in St. George,” said Meagan Evans, Manager of the St. George Museum of Art. “We’re excited to host the Soup N’ Bowl event and welcome our community to the Museum on February 6. We’re incredibly grateful to Steve Brough and Zions Bank for their generous contributions that make this event possible.”

All bowls created at the Community Pot Throw will be donated to the Soup N’ Bowl fundraiser, set for February 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. George Museum of Art (47 E 200 N).  Held annually since 1995, the fundraiser generates support for the Museum’s permanent collection. Participants in the pot throw and the Soup N’ Bowl directly benefit the art community of St. George.

Tickets for the Soup N Bowl fundraiser are currently $20, and will increase to $25 on January 15.  They can be purchased online here. The ticket includes your choice of a handmade bowl, along with a lunch of soup, bread and dessert, as well as live entertainment provided by the Utah Arts Academy House Band. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet the featured artists who will donate a number of the bowls.

There is no cost to throw a pot; however, access to wheels will be on a first-come, first-served basis, which may result in minor delays. Everyone who wishes to participate will be welcome to do so. The St. George Recreation Center is located at 285 S, 400 E, St. George, 84770.
