Community invited to “watch party” in Vernon Worthen Park for Aaron Metler’s Boston Marathon run, April 20

ST. GEORGE — When Aaron Metler steps up to the starting line of the 2026 Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America on April 20, he’ll have the backing of co-workers, friends and family. Those who can’t join him in Boston are invited to attend an early morning watch party in Vernon Worthen Park — site of the St. George Marathon finish line.

Metler, Recreation Manager for the City of St. George, is one of just eight male Masters (40+) runners worldwide selected to compete in the elite pro division at the prestigious race — the oldest and one of the most challenging marathons in the world. He is the only four-time St. George Marathon winner and was the 2025 Masters male champion of the race. His time of 2:19:48 in St. George cemented his berth on the elite team.

“Aaron’s dedication to the sport is outstanding, both as an athlete and an advocate for competition in his role with the St. George Races division,” said Michelle Graves, assistant director of Parks & Community Services, and St. George Marathon race director. “It will be incredibly exciting to gather with the local community to support his run in Boston.”

The live watch party will begin at 7:30 a.m., with the big screen set up in the bandshell on the southeast corner of the park. Donuts will be served while supplies last; attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
