ST. GEORGE — The wonder of nature surrounds us every day in St. George, beckoning us with its eye-popping beauty and tantalizing promise of joyful rapture. All are invited to experience that type of feeling during the free Tonaquint Family Night, Sept. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Tonaquint Nature Center (1851 S. Dixie Drive).
Formerly known as Junior Ranger Night, Tonaquint Family Night aims to create a positive and memorable experience for families, promoting a deeper connection with nature and fostering a sense of community through shared outdoor adventures and learning opportunities.
“There’s a kind of magic in connecting with nature. It enriches our lives, improves physical and mental health and helps us to appreciate the world around us,” said Hannah Keller, Recreation Supervisor for the City of St. George. “It’s important that we teach our children and community how to connect with and care for nature. Tonaquint Family Night accomplishes that. We invite everyone to learn about the variety of outdoor recreation opportunities and how you and your family can contribute to conservation in the area.”
The event features a variety of hands-on, interactive experiences that highlight local wildlife, natural habitats and conservation efforts. Activities include educational crafts, interactive exhibits and presentations by local experts. At each activity booth, participants can receive stamps to earn a free hot dog dinner, while supplies last.
Registration is not required. It’s recommended to wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor activities.
