ST. GEORGE — DOVE Center’s, Washington and Kane Counties’ service provider for victims
of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault, shelter has experienced an unexpected maintenance
issue.
For many survivors of domestic violence, DOVE Center’s shelter is more than a building; it is a
lifeline. It is the place where families find safety, hope, and the opportunity to begin again.
Recently, our 24-bed emergency shelter experienced an unexpected maintenance issue that made
it unsafe for residents to remain in the facility. To protect the safety and well-being of every
survivor and child in our care, we immediately relocated all shelter residents to alternative safe
housing.
While we are grateful that we were able to act quickly and ensure no one was left without a safe
place to stay, these emergency accommodations come at a significant and unplanned cost.
Today, we are asking our community to help us raise $25,000 to cover the expenses associated
with emergency housing, transportation, meals, and other critical needs while repairs are
completed.
Survivors escaping violence cannot put their lives on hold while buildings are repaired. They still
need a safe place to sleep, support from advocates, and the security of knowing someone is there
to help them through one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
