ST. GEORGE — The St. George Art Museum has hired Meagan Evans as its new Manager & Curator. Her arrival signals a bold step forward in shaping the Museum’s future through dynamic exhibitions, thoughtful scholarship, and community engagement.
“It is a privilege to contribute to the legacy of the St. George Art Museum and to help shape its future as a vital part of this dynamic community,” Evans said. “I am committed to honoring the region’s rich artistic heritage, including the contributions of Native American artists, while positioning the Museum as a leading hub for art of the American West. My goal is to foster a space that celebrates creativity and culture, where the power of art to inspire, educate and connect is felt by local residents and visitors.”
Originally from Heber City, Utah, Evans earned a BA in Art History and Curatorial Studies (2018) and an MA in Comparative Studies (2020) from Brigham Young University. She is expected to complete her PhD in Art of the American West from the University of Oklahoma in 2026. She has also held prestigious fellowships at nationally recognized institutions, including the Charles M. Russell Center for the Study of Art of the American West in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, Texas.
In addition, Evans has contributed to exhibitions and research for the Springville Museum of Art and Brigham Young University. Her curatorial work and scholarship emphasize identity, memory and place-making in Western American and Native American art.
Evans joins the Museum at a pivotal moment as it works to position itself as a leading center for arts and culture in Southern Utah and beyond.
“Meagan brings vision, energy and a wealth of knowledge to this position,” said Michelle Graves, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services. “I think her vast experience will play a crucial role in elevating the St. George Art Museum.”
“Her arrival has already brought fresh energy and the start of a new chapter at the museum. We can’t wait for what’s to come,” added Kacey Carter, Special Events and Programming Specialist for the Art Museum.
