St. George to celebrate National Park & Recreation Month throughout July with a bevy of activities for all ages

ST. GEORGE — Grab your family, lawn chairs and blankets, and join the City of St. George in kicking off the month-long observation of National Park and Recreation Month. Each July for the past 40 years, cities across the country have celebrated the lasting impact of park and recreation services on the lives of tens of millions of people.

Here in St. George, there are a number of free activities provided for people of all ages.

“Join us as we spotlight the people, programs and places that make St. George a stronger, more beautiful community,” said Shane Moore, Director of Parks and Community Services. “This year’s theme, ‘Build Together, Play Together,’ reminds us of the many, many contributions of  the City of St. George’s outstanding Parks and Community Services Department.”

In chronological order, the activities include:

  • July 11: The family friendly Movie in the Park series continues with National Treasure at 9 p.m. at Historic Town Square.
  • July 14: Free ice cream sandwiches will help music fans beat the heat at the free Concert in the Park with Eric Dodge, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Vernon Worthen Park.
  • July 16: Residents are invited to participate in a community cleanup of Royal Oaks, Bloomington, Fossil Falls and Tonaquint Parks, beginning at 7 a.m.
  • July 17: Celebrate the Grand Reopening of Christensen Park (3764 S 1470 W) — complete with a new playground — at 9 a.m. Free donuts, while supplies last.
  • July 25: Movie in the Park screening of “Out of My Mind” at 8:45 p.m. at Town Square.
