ST. GEORGE — The St. George Museum of Art encourages local artists and creators to submit art pieces for the annual Day of the Dead Celebration, set for October 30 through November 1. Selected pieces will be featured as part of the pop-up exhibition at the museum.
“The pop-up show adds such an important element to what has become a truly can’t-miss event,” said KC Carter, Special Events & Programming Specialist for the City of St. George. “I encourage all interested artists to submit their work and take part in this significant cultural celebration.”
The deadline for submissions is October 15. Artists are encouraged to submit up to two pieces themed around Day of the Dead. The pieces are then juried, and the artist will be contacted with drop off times, if selected. Submissions can be made here.
“This event is so fun to be involved with every year,” said Stephanie Wheeler, Assistant Curator at the museum. “This really showcases the talent, thoughtfulness, inspiration and joy that exists in our community.”
The Day of the Dead Celebration culminates with a cultural event set for November 1 at the Museum of Art from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It includes a live dance performance, children’s crafts, a community Ofrenda, food trucks, horchata, face painting and more.
