Successful 2024 for St. George Regional Airport highlighted by record number of enplanements, shattering previous mark

ST. GEORGE — St. George Regional Airport (SGU) achieved a historic milestone in 2024, recording its busiest year ever. A total of 346,349 passengers traveled through the airport’s commercial terminal, while 70,952 flights — private and commercial — took off or landed, marking the highest usage numbers since the airport’s opening. The previous record was 325,853 in 2021.

“This is a significant achievement,” said Airport Director Dustin Warren. “We experienced a landmark year in 2024. These numbers are a testament to the convenience, reliability and growing appeal of our airport as both a regional gateway and a vital part of our community. We’re excited about what 2025 will bring with new improvements on the horizon.”

SGU connects travelers to five direct destinations — often serving as a starting point for key destinations throughout the world. In October, SGU welcomed 39,524 passengers, shattering its previous best for any month by nearly 4,500. The numbers for November (33,801) and December (32,612) also bested previous SGU records for those months.

These new benchmarks underscore the airport’s growing role in serving both private and commercial travelers.

In 2024, SGU re-established Los Angeles as a direct destination and opened up a new lounge on the observation deck for departing passengers. In 2025 and beyond, SGU is working to expand the physical footprint of the airport, adding an air traffic control tower and significantly expanding the size of the terminal.

“The St. George Airport is a thriving economic engine for the region,” Warren continued. “We offer a seamless experience for passengers traveling for business or pleasure, and support a thriving environment for the private and business aviation communities. Our success reflects the strength and vibrancy of St. George and Southern Utah as a whole.”

As a cornerstone of the region’s economic development, the airport continues to support a variety of aviation-related businesses and enhance access for its users.
