ST. GEORGE — A vibrant array of aesthetically pleasing art is on display at the St. George Art Museum through May 25, as three new exhibits covering a variety of topics will be available to be seen by the public for two-and-a-half months.
“Art plays a pivotal role in shaping and enriching the fabric of a community, serving as a powerful catalyst for cultural expression, identity, and connection,” said Melissa Carter, the Art Museum’s Manager and Curator. “We hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity to immerse themselves in the visual storytelling on display at the Art Museum.”
Integrated Aesthetics: the Breadth & Depth of Visual Media
Integrated aesthetics explores the diverse world of visual media with paintings, 3D works and mixed media. The work showcases the relationship between local professional artists, and students from MakeSpace Art Studio. Located in Kayenta Art Village, the studio serves as a nonprofit dedicated to bridging the gap between professional artists and newcomers.
Crossroads: Change in Rural America
A traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program, Crossroads provokes fresh thinking and sparks conversations about the future and sustainability of rural communities. Highlighting the change that has occurred in American rural areas, Crossroads spotlights pioneering photojournalist Dorothea Lange as well as the compelling works of Dave Becker.
Focused on St. George and its surrounding areas, Lange’s lens brings to life the rich tapestry of ‘Three Mormon Towns,’ a series initiated in 1953. Along with the insightful contributions of Becker — who contributed often to the City of St. George’s photography collection — and the Lynne Clark collection, ‘Crossroads’ emerges as a powerful testament to the enduring spirit of the people and the dynamic history of the region.
“At a time when much of rural Utah is reinventing itself, Crossroads offers a chance to look at our own paths over the past century – to highlight changes that affected our fortunes, explore how we’ve adapted, and think about what’s next,” said Megan van Frank, Director of the Center for Community Heritage at Utah Humanities.
A Splash of Color: Dixie Watercolor Society Spring Exhibition

About the St. George Art Museum
Located at 47 East 200 North in historic downtown St. George, the former sugar beet seed storage facility was transformed into an elegant showcase for art in 1997. The museum is part of a beautiful arts complex which also includes the Opera House and Social Hall. With over 1,400 pieces in the permanent collection, the St. George Art Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum is donation based. Donations directly support education and operating expenses of the museum.
