ST. GEORGE, Utah — To celebrate a quarter-century of creativity, community and color, the Sears Art Museum at Utah Tech University is presenting “The 25th Anniversary Dixie Watercolor Society Exhibition,” a juried art show and sale.
The exhibition is set to open with a public reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 21 and will run through Jan. 9, 2026. Admission to both the opening reception and exhibition is free and open to the public. The Sears Art Museum, located in the Eccles Fine Arts Center on the Utah Tech campus, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum will be closed Nov. 27–28 and parts of December for the holidays. Check searsart.com for the full schedule. The reception will include light refreshments as well as desserts provided by Mary’s Cheesecakes and Moore N More Popcorn.
Featuring more than 150 original watercolor paintings by members of the Dixie Watercolor Society, the exhibition showcases the diversity and vitality of Southern Utah’s watercolor artists. Subjects range from vibrant red-rock landscapes and evocative portraits to intricate still lifes and abstract compositions. All works are available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the society’s ongoing educational and community programs.
“This exhibition is a wonderful testament to the thriving art scene in Southern Utah,” James Peck, director and curator of the Sears Art Museum, said. “We’re fortunate to have so many gifted watercolorists in our region. This show brings them together in one place and celebrates both their talent and their generosity.”
Founded in 2001, the Dixie Watercolor Society has grown from a small group of local artists into a vibrant nonprofit organization with more than 200 members. Through exhibitions, workshops and outreach programs, the society continues to encourage the advancement of watercolor painting and art education across Southern Utah.
“The Dixie Watercolor Society is thrilled to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special fall show at the Sears Art Museum,” Virginia Howard, president of Dixie Watercolor Society, said. “Featuring works from over 50 talented member artists, this exhibition highlights the creativity and spirit of our community. We invite the public to join us in experiencing this beautiful showcase at such a wonderful venue.”
In conjunction with the show, the Eccles Grand Foyer will feature “Highlights from the Sears Art Museum Collection: Watercolors from the West,” an exhibition of historic and contemporary works drawn from the university’s permanent collection.
