

Community invited to honor beloved hometown hero Quentin Nisson at Veterans Park
Washington, UT — June 25, 2025 — The Washington City Lions Club invites all to Veterans Park on Friday, July 4, 2025, for a cherished hometown tradition: the 4th of July in the Park Celebration. This year’s event will feature the unveiling of a new statue honoring Quentin Alexander Nisson, fondly known as “Mr. Washington.”
The statue dedication begins at 9:00 AM and will be a highlight of the day’s festivities. Commissioned by local resident Carmen Snow and created by renowned sculptor Jerry Anderson, the statue was made possible through generous community fundraising, with additional support from the Washington City RAP Tax. It celebrates Nisson’s lifelong dedication to Washington City — from his 14 years as mayor and his WWII service to his joyful traditions like the patriotic serenade truck and Christmas music echoing through downtown.
The 4th of July in the Park offers something for everyone:

● 7:00 AM — Pancake, egg & sausage breakfast
● 8:00 AM — Music by the Nisson Band
● 9:00 AM — Quentin Nisson statue unveiling
● 9:30 AM — Kids’ carnival games and auction
● 10:00 AM — Foot races and lunch (burgers, corndogs, fries)
